SIP house parts
Roof
A roof is an essential part of the house which can define not only how the house will look but also provide thermal insulation. SIP roof has several benefits such as high energy efficiency, excellent strength-to-weight ratios and quick assembly. Being relatively lightweight, it provides excellent thermal insulation and has great durability since it is highly resistant to air leaks and moisture infiltration. Because SIPs for roofs are also pre-cut before installing, it can offer various shapes to achieve the custom design and unique look.
Timber Cabins manufacture several options of the roof for a SIP house. To achieve Silver energy class, we use 174 mm panels for the roof, while for the Gold energy class SIP house there are used 224 mm panels including 50 mm wool insulation board. If you are looking for Platinum energy rating, the roof of the house will consist of 324 mm panels and 100 mm wool insulation board. Every option of the roof also includes rain gutters for the rain to run off.

Windows and doors
Windows and doors are also very important components of the house. When it comes to considering these parts, you need to take into consideration not only shapes, styles and colors but also specific spaces of the house where windows and doors would be most fitted. This includes scenery, light, layout of rooms and final look of the house.
Another key feature to consider when choosing windows and doors is thermal insulation – it should be energy-efficient to maintain the overall thermal integrity of the house. Both windows and doors can provide different levels of insulation performance – it depends on
proper framing, sealing and high-quality materials.
Timber Cabins offer several kinds of windows and doors regarding energy efficiency class rating. For Silver energy class houses we use windows and doors made of Premium wood which ensure great efficiency. To achieve Gold energy efficiency rating, we use double-glazed PVC windows and doors, while for the SIP house of Platinum energy class there are used triple-glazed doors and windows which is an excellent choice for high insulation performance.

Floors
The floor system in a SIP house can vary depending on the design and preferred energy class. Floors are a crucial part of the house to maintain stable indoors temperature and prevent heat loss through the floor. Similarly to roof and walls, floors can be made using SIPs which ensure great thermal resistance and insulation.
Depending on the energy class, we offer several options for the floor system. For Silver energy rating SIP house, we use high quality wooden flooring boards with 100 mm wool insulation board. While for Gold class energy rating, floors are made of 224 mm SIP floor panels. To achieve Platinum energy class, we use 324 mm SIP floor panels which maintain continuous high energy efficiency. Every option of the floor system includes rodent wire mesh to prevent rats, mice and other rodents entering the house.

Foundations
You can choose from two options of foundations for the SIP house – both have some benefits depending on your needs.
The first option is the foundation system where perimeter beam serves as solid foundation on which SIPs are anchored. Perimeter beam is structural element that runs around the perimeter of the foundation – it is made of concrete to provide the support and ensure that structure remains stable. The advantage of this type of foundation is that it not only provides stability but also leads to more flexible interior layouts, plumbing solutions and a more energy-efficient design.
The second option is pier foundation where vertical support elements or piers are used to elevate and stabilize a structure. In this type of foundation system there are used horizontal floor joists on top of the foundation to provide support for the flooring SIP panels. The advantage of this house is the time-friendly construction period, it is recommended for small SIP houses.
